About Santa Monica Dog Coach
Dee Green is a dog trainer and canine behavior consultant with more than two decades in the field, specializing in working with puppies aged 0-18 months and fearful, anxious, and reactive dogs of all ages.
In 2020, Dee’s career experienced a positive change with the addition of virtual training sessions through platforms like FaceTime and Zoom. This adaptation, made necessary by the pandemic, opened the door to a new and effective training method. Working with dogs directly in their home environments, without the physical presence of the trainer as a distraction, has proven to be a revolutionary advance in training.
Dee’s methods focus on cultivating a cooperative relationship that respects and fulfills the needs of dogs. This approach aligns with what most pet parents truly desire – a harmonious bond with their canine companions.
Note that prior to spring of 2024, Santa Monica Dog Coach was known as Balanced Dogs. Because “balanced dog training” has come to refer to a type of training Dee does not support or practice, the new name was born.
Dee’s Training Philosophy
Dee Green’s philosophy in dog training transcends traditional obedience. The core of Dee’s method is a force-free, fear-free approach that seeks to establish a cooperative relationship between dogs and their guardians. This methodology is about honoring the needs of dogs and engaging them in a manner that obedience training alone cannot achieve.
Dee emphasizes non-verbal communication, advocating for a shift from verbal commands to body language. This approach creates a deeper connection by aligning with how dogs naturally communicate, fostering a more satisfying human-canine relationship.
The use of video analysis in training sessions is a cornerstone of Dee’s approach, allowing guardians to see firsthand how their actions influence their dogs.
